Key Pricing Factors
At Dungeon Forge, we aim to keep our custom order pricing transparent and fair, based on the time, detail, and materials involved. Here’s how we roughly calculate the cost of your custom miniature:
Size & Scale
We predominately calculate your price based on resin usage, which includes both the model and the necessary support structures used during printing.
💡 The high quality resin we use costs $1 AUD per millilitre
Build Plate Area
The more space your miniature takes up on the build plate, the more printers and build plates we need to engage to complete your order. This also contributes to wear on our high-resolution LCD screens, which have a limited operational lifespan and must be factored into long-term production costs.
Individual Pieces
The number of individual parts in your miniature directly affects the amount of manual labour involved in the post processing. While we’re happy to print multipart kits or kitbashes, it’s important to understand how this impacts your quote.
Painted Miniatures
Want your custom miniature to hit the table fully battle-ready?
Add a splash of color with our optional painting service.
Our painting service uses quick but effective techniques to bring your miniature to life with bold colors, clean highlights, and strong tabletop presence. It’s ideal for players who want a great-looking figure without the wait or cost of display level commissions.
🖌️ This is not a competition level paint job – but it will absolutely look great for game night.
Common Questions
Find answers to your questions about our custom order process.
How do I place a custom order?
Start by contacting us with your STL files ready and any specific requirements. We’ll guide you through the rest!
What file formats do you accept?
We accept STL file formats for custom prints. Preferably unsupported as mentioned below.
Must the files be pre-supported or unsupported?
We highly prefer unsupported files and may decline jobs if unsupported versions are not available. This is because the quality of supports provided by 3d artist vary greatly and by provided unsupported version we can manually support your files ourselves and therefore be sure of the support quality.
How long does it take to receive my order?
Typically, orders are processed within 7-10 business days, depending on complexity.
Can I request a specific scale for my miniatures?
Yes, you can specify the scale during the order process, and we’ll adjust accordingly. However you must be able to provide unsupported files, as presupported designs run into issues when scaled.
Where can I get custom design files?
We recommend browing cults3d, myminifactory or patreon for a range of 3d artist that can provide ready made orders. Many creators on these platforms offer beautifully detailed, game-ready models suitable for printing. If you are looking for a custom design there is also hero forge or fivver for a professional 3d artist service.
Is there anything you wont print?
We generally won’t print extremely large designs as the costs of these prints, facotring in potential print failure is not financially viable. We prefer to focus on nothing larger than the monster designs vailable on our store.
